ThermoWood® Aspen — often marketed as Thermo Poplar — is a thermally modified hardwood alternative derived from aspen poplar. It forms a sustainable, environmentally friendly substitute for tropical hardwood species such as afrormosia and African padauk.

During thermal modification, the wood is heated to approximately 200°C under pressure in an oxygen‑reduced (inert) atmosphere. This controlled process permanently alters the cell structure of the wood, similar to a high‑precision steaming treatment, resulting in exceptional performance characteristics.

ThermoWood® Poplar is lightweight, stable, highly durable and nearly knot‑free — making it ideal for façade cladding, gates, architectural detailing and refined visible applications.
