Scandinavian Whitewood

Vuren 1
Vuren 2

Scandinavian Whitewood consists of kiln‑dried and planed structural beams and battens, available with FSC® or PEFC® certification. Through technical drying (KD – Kiln Dried), the wood becomes more dimensionally stable, lighter, more uniform and better suited for structural applications.

As one of the most widely used softwood species in Belgium, Scandinavian Whitewood is appreciated for its pale colour, fine grain and excellent workability. The wood originates from sustainably managed Northern European forests.

  • Qualities

    Advantages of Scandinavian Whitewood KD

    • Improved dimensional stability through technical drying
Kiln drying significantly reduces movement, limits surface cracking and ensures better stability during installation.
    • Lightweight & easy to handle
Scandinavian Whitewood is lighter than many other coniferous species, resulting in easier handling, transport and processing.
    • Cost‑effective & widely available
One of Europe’s most common structural softwoods — sustainable, economical and versatile.
    • Aesthetic pale colour & fine grain
Whitish to cream‑coloured with small, sound knots that are less pronounced than in Pine, making it suitable for both finishing and structural use.
    • Sustainably sourced
Available with FSC® and PEFC®, harvested from well‑managed Scandinavian and Baltic forests.
  • Applications

These rough‑sawn structural battens in durability class 3–4 are suitable for non‑visible structural applications such as:

    • Timber Frame Construction
Studs, plates and uprights in wall and roof elements.
    • Roof Structures
      Load‑bearing trusses, rafters and purlins.
    • Ceiling Frameworks
Light, stable and easy to install.
    • General Structural Use
Wherever light, stable and cost‑efficient battens are required.
