A family company with a rich history

Hout – Bois van Steenberge was founded back in 1903 by Joseph van Steenberge after he took over a lumber yard in the centre of Zottegem. It was a lumber yard characteristic for day, with the local populace being served by horse and cart. His son Paul van Steenberge joined the company in 1939 and expands the company on national scale in the 50s and 60s. This family firm soon evolved into trendsetting specialist for wood and panels, leading to the firm relocating in 1963 to its current 5-hecatre site in Zottegem-Elene. After the sudden passing of Paul van Steenberge in 1969, his two sons Marc and Luc, who had already been involved in the family business for several years, picked up the mantle. Under the third generation’s leadership, the company saw continued growth, including modern machine park. The brothers opted to diversify within the construction sector by establishing and acquiring various other firms, In the end, they decided to go their separate ways and break up the various branches of the business.

A strong vision for the future with international ambitions

At the end of 2020, Véronique van Steenberge and her husband Benoît Clarysse took over the reins from her father Marc van Steenberge. The fourth generation wants to expand the business on an international scale:
