Werchter – KVH beam structure with ThermoWood® Poplar cladding

Back to overview

For this realisation in Werchter, a structure based on KVH beams was chosen to ensure dimensional accuracy, stability and structural reliability. KVH is widely used in timber construction for its consistent quality and suitability for load‑bearing applications.

The structure is finished with ThermoWood® Poplar, a thermally modified wood species valued for its improved durability, dimensional stability and predictable behaviour in exterior conditions. Thermal modification enhances the performance of poplar without the use of chemical treatments, making it well suited for façade applications.

The combination of KVH structural elements and ThermoWood® Poplar cladding results in a coherent building envelope where technical performance, durability and architectural clarity are carefully aligned. This project highlights the potential of timber construction when structure and material selection are approached as an integrated system.
