Since 2022, Hout – Bois van Steenberge has been the exclusive distributor of Kebony® in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Kebony® Character is a durable, biobased modified softwood originating from Norway. Through the patented Kebony® technology, FSC®‑certified pine (Pinus sylvestris) is strengthened using a biological liquid (furfuryl alcohol). During impregnation, followed by a controlled heating stage in an oxygen‑reduced environment, this liquid polymerises and becomes permanently integrated into the wood’s cell structure.

The result is a robust, long‑lasting wood species with the performance and appearance of tropical hardwood, but with a much lower ecological footprint. Kebony® Character features a distinctive knotted look and evolves from a deep brown tone to a silver‑grey patina when exposed to sunlight and weather.
