Waanrode – application of ThermoWood® spruce
This realisation in Waanrode features ThermoWood® spruce applied in a fence and a garden shed, where long‑term performance and material stability are essential. The project was realised by Devos André Schrijnwerken‑Dakwerken bv, ensuring a precise and careful execution of the exterior wood application.
Thermal modification improves the behaviour of spruce by reducing moisture absorption and increasing dimensional stability, without the use of chemical treatments. As a result, ThermoWood® spruce performs reliably in outdoor conditions.
The wood is installed using narrow boards, resulting in a uniform finish and a clean architectural appearance. With its warm brown tone and visible wood grain, ThermoWood® spruce gradually evolves into an even grey patina. This project illustrates how thermally modified spruce can be used in contemporary exterior applications that combine technical durability with a natural aesthetic.
